Eligibility Standards:

  • 9th grade students interested in the health sciences
  • Overall 85% average GPA and at least 85% in Math and Science subjects
  • Minority and/or economically disadvantaged students
  • Enrollment in one of our partner schools*
    • James Madison High School
    • High School for Public Service
    • Eagle Academy for Young Men II

* Note: Though the majority of the students for this program are from the schools listed above, we also take a certain number of interested students from our Health Science Academy high school partners (see here). 

9th Grade Bridge

The 9th Grade Bridge program was implemented in Spring 2012 to introduce 9th graders interested in the health sciences to AAIUH's Health Science Academy (HSA). The Bridge Program explores various health science career opportunities and the study of health disparities through guest speakers and hands-on activities related to anatomy and physiology. 

The HCOP funded program takes place during the spring semester of students' freshman year. The 10-week science enrichment program takes place on Saturdays from 10 AM to 12 PM at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
