Accountant

Activities
Coordinate all aspects of the accounting functions.  The accountant will be responsible for processing and reporting on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.  Responsible for maintaining the general ledger as well as preparing draft monthly reports.  This individual will also assist in processing billing for state and federal contracts.

Time Required
4 - 6 hours per week

Supervision
Supervision by comptroller and current accountant on a twice a month basis

Skills Needed

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with minimum 3 years related experience.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be efficient and timely in completing tasks assigned.
  • Superb organizational skills, detail oriented

Project Coordinator

Activities
Coordinate a campaign to increase the racial and ethnic diversity of the Health professions educated in New York State. The campaign coordinator will organize a community effort in New York City and State and serve as the liaison between New York and the coordinators of the national effort. Develop a thorough understanding of current public policy and efforts in New York to promote health workforce diversity; Identify and organize community leaders and organizations who share a common concern about the issue; Develop policy positions for the campaign and write related material; Engage and mobilize civic leaders and their organizations to advocate on the issue; Develop materials and conduct educational efforts on concepts such as the medical and health professional education process and community benefit principles

Time Required
4 - 6 hours per week

Skills Needed

  • Masters in Public Health or other significant experience in health policy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of populations including grassroots groups, civic leaders, and leaders in academic medicine and health

Information Technology Assistant  I Activities
Responsible for ongoing project of transferring video content from VHS to DVD; Burning of DVDs and cataloging of the videos in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

Time Required
1-2 hours any day of the week

Supervision by program managers for each AAIUH program

Skills Needed

  • Experience with VHS and DVD players; Experience with Microsoft Excel; Attention to detail; Organizational skills

Information Technology Assistant  II

Activities
Responsible for maintaining corporate website; developing a donor tracking system in Microsoft Access. 

Time Required
1-2 hours any day of the week

Community Outreach Marketer

Activities
Responsible for creating new marketing materials with a look of consistency that will appeal to AAIUH’s wide audience, including community based donors and other volunteers.  Activities will include expanding community outreach through awareness of programs; creation of organizational marketing materials for clients, donors and volunteers; assistance with updates to the corporate website; creating a photo organization system

Time Required
3-5 hours per week any day of the week

Supervision
Supervision by Deputy Director for Programs

Skills Needed

  • Familiarity with computer software, including adobe design programs
  • Knowledge of graphic design or creation of marketing materials
  • Background in community outreach and volunteerism
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills

Youth Advisory Committee Coordinator

Activities
Responsible for overseeing all of the YAC work, including staffing the members, preparing agenda and minutes of meetings, documenting the YACs deliberations.  Serves as liaison between YAC and AAIUH staff and CEO: provides regular updates to the staff on any issues relevant to the AAIUH mission and direction, including advising on corporate image and efforts to promote the Ashe legacy so that it remains inter-generationally relevant.  Develops networks between the YAC and other youth oriented bodies.

Time Required
3 hours weekly any day of the week

Supervision
Supervision by Associate Director for Health Science Education and Health Science Academy Program Manager

Skills Needed

  • Relationship management skills and experience in fostering a team approach to youth development and creating collaboration among partner organizations in youth development
  • Excellent project management and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • At least three years experience in an administrative or managerial capacity in an organization that provides direct services to youth
  • Experience and competencies in working in a multiracial, multicultural environment
  • Experience and/or understanding of the development of educational programs in nonprofit or K-12 settings
  • Experience with and/or understanding of the application of information technology to educational programs for youth in nonprofit or K-12 settings

Information Technology Consultant

Activities
Responsibilities include managing and supporting  AAIUHs offsite computers in two Brooklyn locations;  designing a network infrastructure for f AAIUHs Fundraisng and Volunteer programs. Supporting the network through proactive scheduled maintenance, so that  network, servers, computers and infrastructure are running optimally. Serve as chief IT resource for AAIUH  employees to ensure a dependable, available technology platform  for AAIUH operations

Time Required
2 hours per week any day of the week

  • 5-7 years technology/information systems (IT) experience
  • Experience working with business executives
  • Strong understanding of Data Management solutions 
  • Hands on experience installing hardware and software to support data management needs of clients, data replication and recovery applications, general technology solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Comfortable presenting to groups
  • Experience delivering consultative technology solution
