3 Year Commitment

Applicants to HSA’s 3-year high school component, the Academy, must be high school Freshmen and commit to attending Sophomore through Senior year. Classes are 2 hours a week for 13 weeks, Fall and Spring Semester.  HSA is designed for academically talented students interested in pursuing Medicine and/or health science careers.  We primarily serve students from racially & ethnically diverse groups, historically under-served and under-represented.

Dissection Labs

College Level Anatomy & Physiology

HSA scholars take 6 semesters of college level anatomy and physiology courses. They also participate in dissections and other hands-on labs, have opportunities to attend local health and science related exhibits, student-led conferences and presentations, as well as paid and unpaid summer internships. HSA also offers college preparatory activities including study techniques, test preparation, resume writing, college admissions, and financial aid workshops.

Leadership Skills & Teamwork

Develop a foundation of basic health science knowledge and leadership skills that supports successful pursuit of advanced education. Make health career decisions suited to your individual needs, aptitudes, abilities and career objectives.  Make new friendships with similarly motivated students from other Brooklyn high schools and discover new ideas and interests that can make a difference in your life and in your community.
